Yes they are from X-eng. http://www.x-eng.co.uk/X-Lite.asp If they were LED they would be really cool but are pretty neat none the less.

Because of the very simple design I can substitute led GU5.3 bulbs when I find some bright enough.

Is there a lens in front of the bulb/reflector unit? Hard to tell from the pics.

We used to run this style of lamp in the lamp diffuser housing of a few big commercial photo printers i used to operate when I worked on the a lab side of things. Course the bulbs we were using were hi wattage AC bulbs, but same style with the bulb and reflector being integrated into a single unit..

If you do, get some with the CREE led bulb. They are bright.

Do you have a set that you can just shine on your Boosts at all times?

Let us know about your impressions once you have them mounted and see what kind of light they are putting out.

Thanks, your pics illustrate what i was looking for. There is something protecting the bulb/reflector.. I was thinking it was possibly like a standard halogen with some sort of glass in the front versus just an open reflector/bulb like this:

The gu5.3 is a sealed unit and the x-lite is really just a mount for the light. I'm not looking for a mega bright solution to illuminate the moon ... Just a reasonable amount of extra light discretely.

The difference between spot and flood appears to just be the bulb reflector type.

To use led's I need to find a sealed one ...
