Military tires size?

Can anyone tell what size tires these are? I read in an old LRW Jan 2003 magazine some of the Wolfs were running 9x16. Isn't that too big? Are these 9x16? Thanks!

The above vehicles are 110 DPV's (or replica's of them anyway!)

They originally came from the factory with either 7.50 michelin XCL's, or 9.00x16 bar-grip (usually goodyear)

Later on, whilst in service, they were fitted with 9.00x16 michelin XCLs

"Wolf" XD rovers have 7.50x16 Goodyear G90 as a standard fitment.

however, as these tyres are so crap, the MoD is now refitting some with Michelin 7.50 XZL (like the older core defenders have, as the XCL is out of production in 7.50 flavour)

the WMIK (Weapons Mount Installation Kit) XD's (these are the stripped down wolf 110's that look similar to the SAS DPV's, but in fact are totally different) have 235/85/16 Michelin XZL's, usually mounted on the standard steel HD vented rim.

the E-WMIK, (Enhanced-WMIK) (Enhanced with some different electrical stuff and sometimes the 2.8 TGV engine) also have Blindo alloy rims. extremely strong (and pricey), but again fitted with the 235/85 XZL.

Good Lord you know a lot of information. Do you know if the 9x16 required any spacers? I have a set of 8.25 XZL and really like them. They don't require any spacers. Are they comparable in size to the 235/85/16? Thanks

No, the 9.00's were just fitted to 130" spec rims (same as the NAS 110 had/has), no spacers.

The original SAS 110 DPV's were drum braked rear axles, then they upgraded them to discs when the disc axles were developed. front axles are salisbury as well.

the 235's are only about 7.50 size, in diameter.
