Correct.

And yes, it's black powder coat... Nice finish.

I'm halfway there. Bottom section installed. A couple of things to note. If you have inward folding seats they are going to have to come out. It's won't fit with inward folding seats.

The good news is that the guard sits far enough behind the roll cage that there is plenty of room to lean the front chairs back (on of my concerns).

Will post pictures when done.

You mean the 4 'jump seats' that were installed in the SW's (Station Wagons) ??

I don't have an issue with them at all. Mine's an SW. The front seats do touch the cage though.

Yep. mine's a SW as well. It originally had jump seats but were removed at some point. I put upgraded exmoor jump seats back in (the thicker kind).

Also if I recall I you used zip ties. I'm using the hardware that comes with it which seems to push the guard towards the rear a bit further. Not a problem since I was going to get rid of them anyways.

To follow up... What exactly does the above sentence mean?

I did use zip ties. You're using the hardware the pushes it towards the rear of the vehicle thereby lessening the cargo room? Why? I'm not following... Get rid of what anyways?

In any case... I love mine, zip ties and all. And you can't even see them. I used 4 for the top and 4 for the bottom. Total cost like twelve united states pennies.

I was so smitten with this one, I purchased one for this Volvo V70 I freaking stole the other day to replace my ailing Toyo Van... haha. I scanned the instructions for the hell of it.

Peace and let me know about the dog guard and post pics as you said.

LATER YO.

I wasn't very clear. I was talking about the jump seats. I was planning to remove mine anyways so it worked for me. If someone plans to use the hardware to install and wants to keep the jump seats they will likely run into a problem as the hardware forces the guard to be positioned quite far back. The hardware decides where the guard ends up being positioned. This is good news for those who are tall or have extended rails. Not so good if you have inward folding seats.

I really like the hardware install. It's rock solid with zero rattle. I preferred this route since I plan to mount stuff to it.

Carl,
Any way you can post some pics of the finished setup? How far behind the roll bar does the guard start? Keep having a bad thought of the pooch going thru the front windshield if I'm in an accident.

Thanks in advance!!

Aaron

Will do but it might take a few days. I'm guessing it sits about 3" behind the roll bar. Plenty of room for reclining seats but it does decrease cargo space a bit. I love it. Its solid and doesn't rattle. You do have to drill in the roof for proper installation. Also great theft deterrent.

I have one in the back of the 110 to keep our 145lb Mastiff in the back. Nice part is with 2 thumb screws the gate releases and pivots up to the ceiling of the truck (right now I use a simple bungee cord to keep it up there , I will design something new when I get some time. I will see who makes it . It is really nice that it just swings up to the roof if you need to load something extra large or long

Thanks!! I fight with the idea that I am going to feel claustrophobic if I have the guard just behind my front seat (kind of like driving a pickup without the extended cab). I kind of like the one in the Custom Mod's section where it has the hole in the center so you could reach in the back for something... But that doesn't really do anything for the dog. It's kind of like a boxing match in my head right now... I am just sitting back with popcorn wondering who's gonna win!

I'm using the britpart guard. Just cut some away and repainted to allow me to access the back.

Wow... That's a nice looking setup. It looks like you're only using the top piece of the guard - does it mount ok this way? Also, did you have to screw into roof?

BTW, that console in the dash looks purdy... you have a close-up?

Thanks!!

Thanks Aaron,

The top piece mounts into the roof panel, directly into the underside rib that is midway down the roof. If you peel back the headliner, you can see what I mean. I used the nutserts included with the britpart kit and attached the sides to the roll cage itself using a stainless "rubberlined hose clamp" that you can find at a marine store or on mcmaster. The idea is in keeping with being able to remove it. Otherwise it has held up well on several trips.

I think the dash is somewhere on the board under the iron goat or similar dash mods.
