Mechanical temp gauge install Q's

I want to swap to a mechanical temp gauge soon to keep close tabs on my elderly engine. Is it just a matter of :
1 swapping gauges in dash,
2 routing capillary tube, and
3 swapping sender fitting in engine compartment?

Anyone with a part# for the sender fitting?
Any tips for routing the tubing? Did you need to drill a new hole in the firewall?

thanks
~Steve

I ran capillary tube through existing hole in firewall, then into the radiator (new fitting) just under the top tube. Totally manual thermometer, no voltage needed for it to work. For me it's an extra gauge, not in the dash, but under, in front of fuse box.

Thanks Doug, sounds like a good idea..

Do you think that might be a better place for the sender over factory position?? I guess to see what is actually passing through your thermostat its a good place.
