maximum RPM?

Was headed up a big hill the other day and let engine run a little higher than normal, say about 4500 rpm...usually shift around 3000 rpm. truck ran great and pulled hard.

Just made me wonder what is the max rpm in these trucks. Is there a "kill" switch over a certain rpm? These tachs don't have the traditional redline so was just curious...

Attributed to Shayne...

The valves will start to float and power drops off before the revs get too high to hurt anything.

Pissing people off on the "net" since 1983.

Land Rover. Turning owners into mechanics since 1948.

I think there is a limiter at 5K
Land Rovers are by far the best looking 4x4 on the back of a flatbed...

I've pushed my 3.9 to 5.5-6k rpm before, pulls really strong.
