manual steering gear leak. not at the shafts

SO, I filled what was a darn near empty steering box on my exmod yesterday. Today... gear oil on the ground. Its leaking... So, I'm scouring the internet for seals (don't know what fits what) go down to see if its a 4 or 3 bolt box... lo and behold, the seals aren't leaking.

What is leaking- The opposite side from where the steering shaft enters. That is, the portion facing the radiator. Kind of looks like a big hex nut. I don't see any serviceable parts on that. Is it just a hex nut for dis assembly.. i can take it off, seal it with some whatever and put it back?

Looks to be, but its too dark and dirty for me to do it tonight, and work will keep me from investigating much till weekend... too curious... anyone experience this before?

Thanks for your time.

its this one.. you can see the big inverse hex nut and what looks to be a locking ring around it.

Fixed it.
Don't know if there's supposed to be anything keeping oil from seeping past the threads or not, but there isn't and it was.
Removed the tension nut and wrapped it with a couple wraps of T-tape. replaced and tightened to where it was. No more leak.
