Mantec Tire carrier Installation Questions

I did a mock assembly of the carrier last night to get my bearings straight.

The directions refer to the grab handle for the lower carrier mount. When I looked at the rear crossmember this morning, they're not there. Are they behind the reflector for a 97 SW? Or do does the rear crossmember need to be drilled? If so, is it easier to install the top, partially assemblt the carrier to get the alignment for the rear?

TIA,

EwS

NAS D90's don't have the "Grab-Handles" so there's one less object to remove or modifiy. However, you will need to drill the rear crossmember. I would begin with the top mount, with the bottom in mind of course, followed by the installtion/prep of the bottom mount just as you stated above. Let me know if you have any more quesitons.

Question

(slightly h-jackin) mmmh,I wonder if I can fit a Truck Cab tailgate and keep my Mantec carrier in place...
I found one and I'm considering a "TC Summer Conversion Project".

Fitting the gate brackets and "pins" would mean removing the carrier for correct opening...alternatively,a modified tailgate to accept the carrier...

I found a nice pic today but can't post it now...

Thoughts?

I actually didn't take any pictures, during the installation. It only took like maybe two hours. The hardest part was drilling the crossmember. I actually more or less helped out. Mostly the removal of the interior and helping with the placement ect. Buddy of my with air tools an much more experience thankfully lent me a hand.

All said and done, very cool.

EwS

Thanks for everyone's pre-installation help.

Great! I'm sure you'll be happy with it as it relieves quite a bit of stress from your rear door.
