Mantec Tire carrier

I have had the mantec on for a bit and for the most part am very happy. My rear door had the typical cracks inside from the spare. I had it fixed then installed the mantec. I got new tires this past week. Stock size. My rear door is now vibrating like a bitch. If I get out of the truck and push on the spare it flexes the door a bit which I think is normal. What is making my rear door vibrate whiel I drive? Is it the plunger thing for the mantec? I would think all the weight is off the door.

Any help is appreciated. This is the newest hting to drive me insane.

Also does anyone have the instructions for the install?

It is possible that now that the weight is off the door, that you will need to adjust the striker.
With the weight of the tire, the door was "seated" with the current position of the striker. Now that the weight is off ... it has lost it's "seat"

Try that.

Also put the hinge repair kits on the door hinges.

Sounds like that the hinges are your problem; I bet they have worked themselves loose. The hinge repair kits I replace about every 3 years but I tighten them qtrly. I would love to have a heavier duty option that would last longer. They don't seem to stay tight very long and after a while the bolts just strip out so there is no way to tighten. The bottom one seems to go first............Got some more from George recently that I am putting on today. Anyone know a heavier duty bolt that would work?

I reuse the stock bolt as it seems to be of better quality. My experience is that the brass ball wears.

Have other people had success fixing rear door rattles and squeaks with a mantec carrier that takes the weight off of the door? I've managed to eliminate all rattles on my ST except for the back door through a lot of aggravating nights in the garage. I've replaced hinges and the entire latch assembly, but I just can't get the latch to hold tight enough to eliminate a wicked rattle.

The mantec is really made for the SW. For your truck you could have worn bushings in the soft top tire carrier or you might not have the striker adjusted correctly so the rear door rattles.
