Mallory Hyfire or MSD boxes

I have toyed around for years on whether or not to add one of these. Is anyone running one and, more importantly, does it add any noticeable performance? My 4.6 runs just fine and I certainly don't need to add something else that could possibly go wrong unless it had some value added. Anyone?

From my experience with electircal gremlins, you DO NOT want to add any more possible parts that can go bad/cause something else to go bad/upset any sensors/ etc.. Keep it simple, enjoy the 4.6 power you've already got!

yeah but switching to the Mallory gets rid of a bunch of the gremlins the factory put in LOL. I just put a 4.6 in a classic with the Mallory Dist. Runs great

I am already running the Mallory distributer--been in for a few years and I would highly recommend it. Haven't met anyone running a Hyfire yet, though. I appreciate Steve's comment on keeping things simple as anyone on here knows I often preach--I just would really like to hear of anyone running on first hand to see if there is any benefit.

Since my cam is a low torque version, my rpms generally stay below 3500--rarely do I even get to 4k. So I am wondering if there is benefit with such low rpms on having a multi/longer spark. I know factory claims and I can see the benefit in race cars...

I was under the impression that low RPM's are exactly the area that the multiple sparks are the most benefit.

From reading up on things regarding the two boxes, the general consensus I've seen in other forums is that the mallory is a much more modern box, and the MSD is pretty dated electronically... and overpriced as well.

That being said.....

The Rover EFI needs a bit of extra tweaking it seems.
