major rust: Battery well..replace?

Hi all,

I am in the process of a Fall/Winter overhaul on the D90. I removed most everything interior, and now am addressing rust, etc. I have a significant issue with the battery well under the driver seat. It's still solid, but from the bottom up, I can tear and peel sheets of rust. Not good.

Is the well easily replaced? Rivited in? Anyone have any suggestions? Cut out and refabricate?

Thanks in advance.

They are available from YRM or get genuine. The original is stupid expensive. But the alternative part is virtually identical.

Look into the genuine replacement ... Just not the NAS version which is made with frozen unicorn tears ... I think they are only around $100 or so.

Where can I start my search? I'm an old Defender lover, but just getting back in the game after several years (of neglect). Thanks again! I really appreciate the help!

???? Think people gave you great answers to your question. Confused?

I appreciate all of the help! Yes, I'd love to find that $100 replacement that Jason was referring to. So far, I found it for $147 (YRM Metal Solutions) http://www.urbanlandcruisers.com

Saving near $47 would be huge as I'll direct the savings to other needed D90 items.

Thanks!

It's probably $100 when it's on Jason's home turf. Probably not over here though once you factor in shipping to the US etc. and profit.

hmmm trying to find where I got mine from .... I'm sure it was RN ... maybe it wasn't $100 cheap but probably worth giving them a call.
