Magnaflow Exhaust Upgrade

I had one my my cats die and the other was on its way. So while the new cats were $500 plus install, I opted for $1200 on a new header back. Y pipe is 2.25 and after the cats is 3 inch. Not a bad upgrade. it is all ceramic black and exits out of the back. A couple things I have noticed. The trans tunnel is a lot hotter now especially on warm days. I reached my hand behind the radio and felt the floor and it was much hotter than before. Not sure if that old cats just sucked or these high flows are pushing through more. It has a noticeably more deeper tone in general. On the freeway after about 73 is a lot more tone than before. On flat ground it can hear it but not has much giving it some pedal.

I made two videos with my iphone. The first is just at idle and then giving it some gas a couple of times. The second is me from idle to 80 rolling on to the freeway using average power. It did not come out as good as possible but you can hear the notes if you listen.

Over all so far it is decent. I'll know more down the road if anything performance is out there. it does seem to run a better.

Hope this helps.

Well, I am a point and shoot guy so when I am on the freeway it is look out and hang on. When I had a full size (2009) that was on cruise 80-90 everyday.

Exhaust is not bad. All the dynomat doesn't count now due to the extra noise but it's a defender not a caddy. Plus I am sure it does not help I have a fiberglass top and no carpet. All sounds are just bouncing around like a ping pong ball. Also, forgot mention I have tera grappler tires which are a bit noiser than my previous bfg's.

Exactly! Seemed like Star Trek IV lapping the sun for a bit! And that is one really temperamental fuel gauge. Nice exhaust note. Have fun now.

Yeah forgot the seat belt trying to find a right position. I have a new fuel gauge but have not cracked the dash to get it in there. My friend has a 90 and it dances like a hoola hoop. I just know at 200-215 miles I better get gas or I will be pushing soon.

Did you do it yourself or have it done at a shop? If you did it, where did you order from? Thanks

Did you install headers and a custom y-pipe that feeds through a single 3" Magnaflow CAT or go with the Magnaflow y-pipe (with CATs) (like depicted in this link)? Hard to tell from your description.

I had this exhaust for a while... there is even a thread i started on here about the highway drone, just be warned it is deafening. I finally went with an NRP because it has a silencer near the tailpipe.

More likely the sender than the gauge.

I start to look for fuel at 600 miles in my 90.

I've never gotten 200.

185 was the norm for me with mixed driving.

Down_shift. I have just as the picture is described. I think they had to change the flanges a little bit for fitting but that looks like what i got. Mine is powdercoated black. The y pipe is a bit larger and after that it is all 3 inch.

I wanted the NRP but at $1k more I would rather put that money into getting all the externals powder coated and other nice to haves. They did move the exhaust a bit more to the rear since I wanted to pipe to go out the back vice the side. I am hoping to pickup a rubber mat from home depot that might help isolate some sounds.

I guess I get lucky. I have ran out of gas twice. Once at 196 and once at 218. So, by 190 I am looking. Now if I could find cash to get a bigger tank (i think i saw one for sale on here but on 2-3 gallons more) or put in the aux tank under the passenger seat.

Do those things do it? Im only getting that now. I thought it was because I barely drive it and when I do its around town.
