LT230 diagnostic.

Hey, my 110 is on a crusade to drive me insane. There's a vibration that starts slowly as the truck gets to 35ish and up. I can feel a slight restriction on neutral while still moving at low speed (i.e. just before making a stop). I had a big problem with both diff (front & rear) so I changed them. I also change both prop shaft. The truck is now better and the steering parts are checked and ok. While I was working on tightening the rear wheel bearing I notice something strange. The tranny in second gear, hand brake off, no diff lock. I jacked up the rear wheel and while I rotate it a restriction can be felt. I know that a slight restriction is normal as the center diff need to work but, as I spin the wheel I wasn't able to make a full rotation as the restriction is so strong. The rear drum brake are not bitting. That might be the cause of the vibration? I have a second LT230 but it's a boring job to swap it and before making so, would like some advice and would like to make sure the other LT230 is in good nick. So basically, what went wrong and how to check the LT230 before fitting to make sure everything is in good working order.

Thanks for your help!
Jeff

Yes it is, otherwise spinning by hand the wheel would be hard task! Hehe I will drop the darn thing today. Anyone want a photo-how-to replace a lt230?

Forgot my Tcase at a friend place. I still have the good old 1.6 military tcase. It's a strange way to diagnose a mechanical problem but, before loosing my mind I will swap!

How's the fluid look in the current LT230?

It might be worth pulling the driveshafts to see if your vibration goes way, at least you'll know the transfer case is good. 20 minutes pulling a driveshft or a dynamic wrestling with a transfer case.

Id be interested to know about the condition of the wheel cylinders if you say the rear brakes aren't grabbing. That being said I know absolutely nothing about drum brakes.

Lift is minimal (old man emu) about 1.5 inch? And with all my tools and the front winch & spare on bonnet, I think it's more 1 inch. I have rulled out the transfer case (sorry for the disapointment regarding the photo how-to). Since I had a front half shaft who snap (because of the front diff explosion) I think there's a little something about the cv joint. I will do the swivel pin this weekend (hopefully) and at the same time make sure every bits are as they should be.
