Thought I'd start this as a seperate thread.
As I'm doing a freshen up of my cheap junkyard LM7 I've been learning a few things about these LS engines :
1. All early LS1's & iron blocks suffer from oil starvation to the passenger side rockers & pushrods, was fixed on later alum blocks. So, if you get a older/high mileage engine pull the rockers & check the pushrod tips for wear, they should be nice & shiny with no scoring
2. Most LS rockers use open cage bearings & it's common for them to loose needles. It's highly recommended to replace them, I'm using the Summit Racing bearing & trunion upgrade for a 100% fix, link http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...3002/overview/
Good link here about both issues Retro LS Build: Rocker Arm Trunion Upgrade | CC Tech - Corvette Blog, Restoration and Repair
Hope that helps !

If you want to do a basic cam upgrade these are the parts the guys on Engine Power used in their 4.8 budget build, made a decent difference for not a huge $ input :
And if you need them, followers
Plus the trunion upgrade as noted in my first post.
