Love my 3.9 but...

I'd love to find me a rear ended JeepLiberty CRD..
US emissions certified 2.8 liter 4 cyl turbo diesel- 160 horse, 295 lbs/ft at 1800 rpm, around 23mpg. 485 lbs. Mated to a 6 speed from factory w/4.46:1 fisrt gear (Euro wranglers at least).. mmm dreaming on.

That would be a better option than the 300 no doubt. I was thinking the other day that a fun swap would be the 5.7 Toyota V8. 381 hp and 401 lb of torque. They are selling a lot of them so one has to wreck sometime (not mine I hope)!! Swap would probably be a b*tch though.

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

What's the new setup on the military/commercial grade Wrangler they recently announced (with diesel and rear leaf springs)?

Every now and then I eye ball the space in the engine bay and swear that the Dinan V8 out of my 540 will fit in the defender. Or the motor out of my race car, a porsche 951. I know that motor fits. Would be terrible for wheeling though..

yeah a 8000 rpm block in there, you'd never have to leave 1st gear!
