Looking for a local mechanic

Just bought a 94 D90 from a friend. I'm not skilled enough to do it all for my D90, anyone know of a good mechanic on Long Island that knows the D90? I don't want to take it to the dealer do I?

I always chose to stay away from the stealership myself. When I got my 90 in aug 07 someone on this board suggested expedition imports out in st. james. Closer to you than to me. I'm not all that skilled myself and I've had scott do a bunch of work for me. Everything was top noitch and his labor rates were VERY fair. his website is good. You can tell him i sent, not that it will get you anything but i myself always liked to hear how people heard about my company. Just picked up my truck like 2 weeks ago, clutch master cylinder was bad, not anymore!

This is where I'm supposed to write something witty and funny; or something.

You might find something closer, but I assure you that the drive up to Robison's is worth it.

Scott Dalton in St. James is a very good Rover guy. He's honest and trustworthy. I've known him for almost 15 years now. He also works on other imports (Unimog, MB, BMW, Porsche)

If you go there, ask him about the D90 he found in the junkyard for under 2 grand Its quite a story.

There is a place in Brooklyn and one In Astoria. I just went to the guy in Astoria to get an alignment and he charged my 75 bucks. seems like a good guy and knowledgeable. He is from somewhere in South America and has a 110 down there. give him a call if you want.

Bumping this old thread because I'm curious to know if there are any new opinions on a good mechanic on Long Island.

If the shops in metro NY can't meet your needs we are 2.5 hours north on I-91, in Springfield, MA
