Locking lug nut caps

Just switched over from steels to alloys and installed some new, genuine locking lug nuts. The newer ones are rather unattractive but come with chincey aluminum caps to dress them up. They are extremely loose- I can't imagine they'd stay on long. The instructions don't make mention of them- other that they exist within the kit. Has anyone installed these? If so, any tricks of the trade to help keep these things on? I've been considering a dab of silicone adhesive- I just don't want to go the opposite extreme and make the caps too difficult to remove when it's time to change over the wheels again.

Mine have some type of silicone or other type of caulk around the edge where it contacts the wheel lock? I am surprised that none have ever fallen off.

I slightly tapped the outer round edge with a hammer to make a snug fit. None have fallen off yet.

thanks for the replies. I think I'll slightly tap the edges and put a dollop of silicone adhesive on them to make them stick.
