Locker - Front or Rear

I was thinking of jumping on the SG Bargain Bin ARB locker special that Yousef posted about. I want only one locker for price considerations and because I don't off road that much. However, I think one locker is a must given the D's stock open diff setup. If I only get one, where should it go.... frt or rear? and why?
Thanks in advance

Rear is where people put singles. More traction is needed while climbing, and gravity makes more weight, thus more grab, available at the rear.

I use no axle lockers, just prop lock.

I agree with Wicks a rear is the way to go, makes climbing much easier. I have no axle lockers either, Just use a little more of the skinny peddle.

Gravity makes more weight?? Come on Wicks! Did you fall asleep in physics!! Just kidding.

Wicks is correct though, most people primarily use rear lockers. What I understand is that a front locker greatly impacts your ability to maneuver the vehicle when engaged, hence the rear is a much more handsome choice since your steering isn't directly effected.

The best person to ask is Bill Davis of GBR (info@greatbasinrovers.com). He always has great insight concerning issues such as this. I'd recommend shooting him an email.

I put a manually operated locker in the front of my last rig, leaving the back 'open' with the old LSD that was about ready to die. In hind sight, I shoulda put it into the back. As others have stated, when climbing a hill there is little weight on the front wheels and its not going to pull you up too good.

My initial decision was justified in the 'if I want to climb that rock' I want *both* front wheels turning to pull my front up. However I never really was able to capitalize on that.
