Locked out RRC

Feeling pretty stupid right now.

I haven't had a chance to address a faulty remote so I have to manually lock the door. I'm not able to lock the truck with the key either so whenever I need to lock the truck I depress the lock from the back door then shut the door.

Unfortunately I left the key in the ignition and don't have a spare. What's the best way to get into the truck?

You got AAA?

They will get inside in about 2 seconds.

Paul - use a pry bar and carefully pull the top corner of the door (LHS = top rt corner looking at it) away and wedge something in the gap. Then use a long piece of rod to hit the unlock.....this is the way AAA or others will do it. Fairly simple.

Its a '94 classic so no unlock button. Was able to get a coat hanger on the button but it won't pull up. Also tried to grab the rod with the coat hanger but i'm either not doing it right or it's not strong enough and unbends pulling on the rod.

Will see if i can find a slim jim.

Thanks!

If you are able, remove the 4 top hinge screws on the upper tailgate.

Didn't think of that.

Napa had a slim jim in stock. 2 hrs goofing around with a coat hanger with no result. 20 seconds with the proper tool and it's open.

For anyone in the future I was able to lift the mechanism by sliding the bar to the right side of the lock barrel, bent end of the tool facing out, and it opened by lifting.
