Lights Out

Went to get some take out tonight and none of my lights were working headlights, taillights, dash lights all out. Checked the fuses and they all look good to go. Any ideas before I take it to the stealership.

Thanks in advance!

Totally weird.

Joe, don't take it to the dealer. Take it to Eddie Bostock at West Coast Rovers in Irvine. He's the grandmaster. And he is a serious off-roader with a beastie RR rock-crawler.

Check your switch...easy enough to check. Even jump it--takes only a second or two.

Sounds just like what happened with my 97, the switch is light plastic where the headlight contacts sit, they get hot and it melts the plastic.

When the switch died on my 97 I could still hold my brights on, you might want to see if still work if you pull the arm towards you. Mine died on me in Moab and I had to rig it with a toggle switch for the rest of the trip.

Since the 97 switch has a different connector, and a higher price tag, I used a 94-95 and spliced into mine.

94-95.......PRC3430...........$40
97.............AMR6104..........$90

Sounds like a good time to wire in a relay.

If you pull off the plastic housing around the steering column you may find that the contact on the switch is loose or broken. Its a lot easier than chasing wires.

I checked this morning and the brights do work, but nothing else.
