Lights out!

The lights went out in my D last night. No parking/dash/headlights. Offroad lights still work, as well as the 'brights flash' when you pull back the turn signal lever. Everything else on the truck seems fine (electrically anyway!).

I've had this happen before and it was the headlight switch, which I replaced. So last night I bypassed the switch (disconnected it and tried jumping the wires) but I didn't get any lights, nor any apparent voltage - there appears to be no power getting to the switch.

Fuses, while unlikely (since things are on different fuse circuits), were checked next and are all good.

The only thing I can think of is either a melted wire somewhere in the wiring mess or a bad ignition switch. I was thinking ignition switch because it's required to be 'on' for the headlights to be 'on' so it's in the path... however, that does not explain why the dash/parking lights won't come on, which don't require the ignition switch to be 'on'. One thing suspicious about the ignition switch is that it seems pretty worn out - it no longer 'springs back' well from 'start' to 'run' and I have to give it a little help back or the starter will stay engaged... it feels a little loose/sloppy.

Any other thoughts?

It has to be a fuse, relay or the switch.

A buddy of mine was driving my 90 one time - he accidently hit the switch with his knee and it stopped working. But look at switch first and make sure the emergency flasher is not half way between on and off.
