Light Bar

Hi Folks

Newbie here...after years of lusting I finally pulled the trigger on a low mileage 1997 BR green D90. My question has to do with my desire to mount some Hella 4000 that I took off my 2000 Land Cruiser. I believe I have a stock front bumper with a A style brush bar that has two mounting points at the top for lights. The problem is there is not enough depth between these mounting points and the grill to fit the Hella 4000s. It looks like maybe Hella Back Magics might fit. In order to fit the 4000s I think I need to come up with another plan or a new bumper (not something I want to do). roverconnection.com sells a "lamp mounting kit" for the D90 (part # LRNA90ALB) but its hard to tell where and how it mounts and the guy that answers the phone did not have much insight. It looks like a bar that mounts with two bolts. I have not seen the part offered anywhere else and searches have not turned up any posts / pics. Anyone here know anything about this "lamp mounting kit" or have other suggestions for mounting Hella 4000s? Maybe I'm SOL and need to buy Black Magics?

Thanks in advance

Make a bracket to move the light forward a bit. How much of a depth difference is it? The only downside is if you hit something, the A bar won't protect them.

Thanks

I think I need about two or three additional inches of depth to get the 4000s to fit. There is a fabricator in town that I've been thinking about engaging to make a custom brackets. I also need them to do a weld on my driver's side door under the door top behind the interior panel. It looks like some water leaked in over the years and rusted it out allowing the door top to flex outward when crusing at speed and causing a gap.

Some people have trimmed the grill around the lights. I believe that is the mounting bar that attaches to the bolts that hold the brush bar (or A-Bar in your case) and bumper to the frame horns. Just pop out those bolts, slide the bar in there, replace the bolts and attach your lights to the bar. Now, whether or not it will move them forward far enough I could not tell you. You may run into the same problem.

THere is a factory mount you need to mount hte light properly. I just got an old grill from someone here on the BB and cut it up so I could fit my hellas. It took me a very long time to find the factory mount that works with the brush bar/bumper.

I have the light bar and Hella HID's, with a factory brush bar. I could take pics if desired.

Reading my mind? If these don't work, I'll email them to you.
