Latest no start/died -- solved in 12 seconds or why carry spares

Got in the red 94 to go buy parts at the autoparts store. Was a bit of a pain to start (no fuel pump sound at first). Got around the block and it started cutting out. Got it restarted and back home. Pulled the ECU and it was full of water (had a huge storm a couple days ago). Put in spare ECU. Ran fine.

Shook water out of old ECU, reinstalled next day and she was back to normal.

I swapped the ECU in 12 seconds. Would have taken another minute to do silver relays. No guessing, just swap.

Once long ago Sarah was watering house plants and didn't realize that most of it was pouring into the (then new) Sony 27 inch TV. A few sparks, smoke and then nothing. After a few days I tried it again and it worked fine. It still live at my BIL's house where it is still working strong.

I went to start the Tdi to go to work yesterday and didn't hear the starter crank. Popped the hood and looked at the starter. I noticed the red connector (switch wire) on the top of the starter solenoid was loose. I pushed it back onto the terminal and it started right up. That was a nice fix.
