Question Larger tires on 6.5 tubed ...

Here is my question : I have 6.5JX16X20.6 Part No: ANR5593 Nato steel wheels with 32" XZL. Now I want to upgrade with BFG's MTs or ATs. The literature suggests that I should have 7.5 to 8 (if I remember corectly) rim width to put 285 on. Do I need new steelies or can I just go ahead and have them put on.

What is you take on this ...

Thanks all !

Pat

It is only available in MT's. But will probably what I will go for unless someone has another idea.

Thanks.

THe 285/75/16's fit also just to let you know. People on the board run 36/12.5/16 TSL's on those rims with no problems
