Land-Rover Tacho?

Would like to fit a tacho to my 110 200tdi (already have the wiring in place from the alternator) and I would like to know if there's a proper Land-Rover tacho for the 200tdi? And as I'm not crazy, what's the ideal replacement one (VDO I guess) as the Land-Rover unit must be outta price?

Thanks
JEff

Don't think there's a Rover specific one. Discovery 200 tdi had a binnacle mounted one. VDO is ok. I prefer Faria marine. 0-4000 rpm is the range you'll want

Just ordered VDO 333-156 from egauges.com. 0-4000 rpm limit.

VDO Vision Series make a nice look and fit in well.

They work much better than the stock gauges and light up very well at night.

3800 rpm for a Defender 200TDI. No point is ever going above 4000 rpm in any case. You can get a 6000 rpm one, http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp...Vision&Units=E but it is waste,

I'm not sure I understand your question. The tachometers we are talking about fit in a Defender.

Maybe I'm unclear.. Was there, fresh out of the factory, a tacho fitted in any defender with the 200tdi? I know about the VDO but would like to retain a certain originality as the other gauge are original and I don't want to mix..

VDO vision series black gauge as mentioned above will fit in the 52mm hole just fine. The only problem is the light is better than the factory gauges. VDO makes the LR gauges. I have never seen a, "rev counter", tach in a stock Defender with the 200 or 300 Tdi. They do make a tach for a Td5 but I believe it gets its information from the ECU. Here is a link for one, http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.ph...5121&xSec=5497.

It is outrageous the price tag on this! Well, thank you all for the infos.. I guess I'll end up with a VDO tach.. I would have thought Rover would fit one on the defender has it's a working truck but, my bad..

That is correct, there was no stock tach and nothing will match the other gauges.

Originality is OK to a point... But the stock gauges with the reflective lighting are horribly bad, nearly unuseable at night. The VDO gauges are nearly the same visually as the later model gauges (which were/are made by VDO) and are wonderful to use day or night with the through dial lighting. The tachs and speedos are fully adjustable as well so you can have very accurate gauges no matter what alternator or tires you use.

You can get the TD5 gauges much cheaper and they look good, but.... They won't match the rest of your stock gauges and may not be accurate as they are not adjustable. They are meant to work only exactly with teh TD5 alternator and pulley. If you go that route, it is best to get a full set from a wrecked TD5.
