I thought I had a tapping valve and turned out to be a noisy AC pulley bearing................

I emailed west coast rover. They suggested the sound to be a lifter and suggesting adding Lucas oil additive. They also told me that the truck is running stock ecu, as the previous owner did not want to buy the chip from RPI. I will be ordering the chip ASAP. How the hell could the motor run correctly if the computer thinks its still a 3.9???

While you may not tap into the increased power of your 4.6 you could drive the truck to Cali and back on a stock 3.9 ecu and still not get a knock at idle.
Bring it on up before you throw any parts at it. I will take a look at it.

This is bull-oney. If it is a lifter, it could be collapsed which will give you all kinds of bother. I had knock at idle on a recent rebuild and when I opened up the valley I could plainly see the #8 exhaust lifter had come apart spurting the piston out the top of the lifter with the pushrod off to the side and doing very little other than being noisy. This wasn't particularly harmful nor did it do any damage. It did make the truck flunk smog. I would urge you to not drive it very much until you have this definitively sorted out.
Oil additive? Really?

Yep..Bring it on up.. I will take a look at it.. The reason I asked about the cam is because on some of the rigs people complained about a tap/knock... It was the cam walking at idle and start up....It was tapping on the inside of the front cover.

I dont suggest snake oil on a brand new motor... I would suggest lucas on a 300k motor that someone is trying to slow down an oil leak and doesnt want to spend the funds repairing it.
