The KMs are the new style that everyone sells. The KOs are the old style. I don't remember what the differences are. But I think its a different compound and slightly different tread pattern? Anyone?

All I can notice with the newer style is a more aggressive sidewall. the old style is at the back of the pile

The tread is more agressive on the newer KMs than the older KOs. I didnt think you could even get KOs anymore. Having owned both KOs and KMs of the same size and run on the same truck, the KMs have not let me down once yet.

There was a thread with side by side pictures of the models. I will do a search but I am sure Mike has the link already to post from memory.

I have about 20K on them and still have tons of tread with all the wheeling they have seen and daily driver duty.

dan, there's only one kind of BFG MT. they are the KMs.

the KOs are the ATs.

Thats a little misleading. To clarify, the KO was also the previous MT version before the MT KMs were released and the KO pattern dropped for that line. As Ho said, the KO style may still be the pattern for the AT series.

you sure the MTs were ever called KOs?

the "KO" started when BFG started labeling their AT tires All-Terrain T/AŽ KO

I was under the impression that the ko version of either tire designated a thicker raised area at the bead that was supposed to protect the rim there. Am I all wet?

Hmm.. I dont think I ever looked that far into the differances. What I picked up on immediately was the tread pattern differance between the 2 MTs.

I know I posted a picture showing the 2 side by side.... Damn it where is "Mr. I Know Where Every Picture On This Site Is". I cant find it.

Follow-up Post:

Ok.. I was wrong about the branding. Tony ran out and looked at my spare and to my shock, says KO is not on the tire but the KMs do have KM on them. So thats how they told the old from the new. Maybe we all just assumed they called not non-branded KM, KOs.

A picture speaks a thousand words...
maybe these will give a better idea of what I was trying to say. I seem to remember the selling point they were trying to give was that the ko protected the edge of the rim and that was an improvement...whatever.
1st pic -origional ta, 2nd pic -tako. I suppose its a moot point now anyway.

Damit give me a break! It's nearly 10 and I'll still be at work for another hour!

I think the pics are in a for sale thread or something, I haven't really searched yet.
