I am afraid it is terminal. I will offer 10k cash to sell it to me.

Ok, is the CEL on all the time or was it just stored codes? If you have not done plugs in wires in 30k I would start with that for the misfire. See if that plug is noticably cleaner than the others.

As far as the charcoal canister fault code, I have not seen that often so I don't know what to say other than I think it is a D90 only part. You might be able to get a disco I part to fit but I kind of think not (ie it would be cheap used).

Rough road, search as it has been discussed frequently.

The D90 purge valve has a hard plastic line that is crimped on semi permanently- the Disco has what I am 99% sure is the SAME purge valve with the a short peice of rubber hose between the line and the valve.

I think the Disco part can be retrofitted, and plan on finding out real soon (well as soon as the part comes in).

I also have P1179. I keep clearing the code and it keeps coming back.

Correct me if i am wrong.

CODE: P1179 is Maximum Negative AMFR (air mass flow rate) which has an incredbile number of potential causes: leaking exhaust, MAF sensor, fuel pressure issues (fuel filter, fuel pump)?

My cats are new and O2 sensors are supposedly all in working order.

How was the charcoal canister diagnosed on yours?

Anyone else diagnosis this issue? Saw one post here:

Thumbs up

I ask only because I am trying to diagnose the same problem and hopefully not get screwed by a mechanic in the process. Let us know if the charcol canister turns out to be the issue. Good luck!
