Just an FYI on starting & fueling issues

Yesterday, my truck died while in motion. Towed her in, went through a bunch of testing. Would run for a while and die again. Caught the fuel pressure at zero on one of the deaths. Switched out relays to f pump, still dying. Switched out ecu witha loaner, ran fine. Switched back, death. Somehow, yesterday morning, the replacement 95 disco ecu with the RPI chip i installed three months ago decided to start cutting power to the fuel pump at random moments.

Anyway, I still have the original ecu and running on that now. Moral: always good to have access to a back up ecu!

There is a Part Deux - an important discovery! I drove the truck with the original '93 ecu today, first time. ALL THE SYMPTOMS that I thought were caused by a bad valve train in the old 3.9 were present suddenly with the new engine!! 1. Fall off in power curve at 3400 rpm, 2. misfire at higher rpms under throttle. Also, since I now have an air/fuel monitor, I could see the mixture. Incredibly lean at high rpm, and lean misfire at idle!! ALL SOURCED from the ECU alone. I was stunned.

Can't wait to get a replacement ecu installed....

Anyone have a 95 Disco/Defender/RR 14CUX they want to sell?
