Jerry Can Mounting?

I've been thinking about jerry cans for too long now...I have an SW with an OEM safari rack on top and the stock spare/mount on the back. I'm not excited about storing cans inside...leaning away from all the way on top of the rack...too high...a lot of lifting.

Has anyone done anything on the outside of the rack (thinking about clamping a locking holder on the outside)...or attached them to the ladder on the passenger side of the rear door...or what about the kits I've seen attached to the spare mounting bracket? I'd like to get a can or two...at most.

Thanks!

Just off the top of my head. If I were to mount the cans to the ladders of the rack. I would buy a few of these(which I use on my rack ladders already for antennas):

And match them up with these:

And be done with it. Easy.

Yes! That's along the lines. I was hoping to get away from fabbing something. You saved me a trip to the hardware store to search...good idea.

That link to the bracket doesn't take me to the store...what site is it...and what's the bracket called?

$25 seems like a good price too.

Wow. That little bracket is as much as each can holder...and can (not combined)! But...for the right setup...back to my fabbing ideas...

Using those clamps on one of these Hannibals might be cool...but that thing is EXTRA pricy...$135...but pretty solid looking.

The bracket is made of aluminum. So for those of us in rusty areas, the money is well spent on one less thing to rust.

I believe the hannibal can holder is also made of aluminum as well. If that matters...

I called British Pacific today to order those jerry cans, and they can't sell into California. Evidently, the can's aren't compliant in this state. Anybodt know where to find the same jerry cans? I want to order that british pacific holder, but I need the exact nato can...

I ordered mine from the Sportsmans guide http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=141863 They shipped to California a few months ago. Either they do not know about C.A.R.B complience or did not care. Price is also right.

I bought some 5Gal Jerries that I carry in my pickup at Pep Boys fairly cheap. Now, they have a seperate pour spout you have to screw on & can be a bit messy, but they must be CA approved since I bought them here The BP ones linked above look nicer.

The guys at Expedition Exchange report having them. I'll probably give them a shot, since they're local.
