Is this too much rust? d110

Guy wants 18k for it. says the engine was replaced with this non-turbo diesel in 2000, has 160,000km's on it. What do you guys think? Project car priced a little too high?

Wow, that needs a new frame STAT! And although it doesn't show much, I would assume that bulkhead needs to be pulled, blasted repaired and galvanized or repainted. No way bulkhead is good if underbody is that bad.

18K for that kind of rust is way to high so it seems to me. PS. don't replace frame until it's here in the Americas! Personally, I'd price it down about $5k for the cost of a new frame, and then I would replace it instead of spending it elsewhere! Good opportunity to strip and treat the entire driveline.

If you don't want a project, walk away.

Yeah, I agree with Mark, that frame is toasty.
FWIW, I like the CTT tribute build even though it incorporates many non-original things, I kind of think it all looks good.
I also agree that mid teens is a good starting point in terms of price. If you budget $5,000 for a frame swap (which basically gets you a frame and install if everything bolts right up and nothing else crumbles), plan on the 3x rule because you'll spend $15,000 on top of the purchase price to make that 110 a reliable roadworthy truck.

So much wrong with that truck...

Spend 10K more on the initial purchase instead of 15K more on repairs. Lots of good import options for you folks in Canada, as well as a few good trucks floating around for sale. Look to BC for some decent condition 15yo imports already in the country.

That's close to basket case quality.

Take advantage of being in Canada and get a clean 15 year old truck for a little more cash

Definitely a project, given the unloved appearance of most of the underside and interior I would speculate that one might find a wealth of hidden issues with both rust and lack of maintenance. The Ex MOD 12J engine installation appears messy to me too, and hardly the engine of choice for a replacement. Looks to me that lots has been spent on bolt-on-goodies and not much else. Personally I cant see how it can be worth much more than 10k, but that might just me being tight.

My 5 cents..... This truck has been on Kijiji in Toronto for 1-2 years. Asking price was 20K. Looks good and after looking at the pics you posted... maybe look further.. If you want help in Toronto PM me.

It is LHD and has the in dash air conditioner, so that is worth something. It looks like a POS otherwise, and it has a shitty paint job.

Some trucks aren't even worth it if you get them for free. Unless you replace everything you're always chasing some problem or defect and paying for the fact it was a pos to begin with.

You will end up replacing 90% of that truck not worth it at all.

Since you live in Canada you should look to import a 15 year old Defender for that price you will get more for your money that way.

Walk away. There is nothing in that truck that would make owning it a pleasurable.

If it was in the US and legally titled I don't think it is far off but since your in Canada you can still get better.

Buy what you can now, the black cloud is coming.
If its in the US and legal titled then its worth close to the asking.
My .02
It's not in the US and neither was the OP...

The real issue is not the truck, it's the asking price. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it were closer to me - for as much as $2K CAD.

As Mathias says, that truck has been for sale of almost two years now. And it appears to be looking rougher and rougher each time I see pictures of it. I saw it driving around Mississauga a couple times last summer, but was never able to talk to the guy. I friend of mine was interested in it... till he saw the truck. Needs way too much work.

I understand it was originally RHD but was converted. Obviously they forgot to change the wipers. And that is a funny looking brake master cylinder.

As everyone else says, we are in Canada so have a newer selection of trucks to choose from. I know of several RHD 110's that are for sale if you are interested or a couple LHD MOD trucks.
