Is this too fruity?

I'm building a Defender 110. My shop sent me this mock-up.

I wanted to keep the white top. The paint will be gray matte/satin

Do you think the sand trim, such as around the edge, like Eddie Baur, is too fruity? It was originally going to be black, but that looked a little too sinister and my wife volunteered "Who are you trying to fool? You're no Bad Ass."

Do whatever you like, you're the one that has to drive it around. It wouldn't be to hard to paint the wheel arches black if you decide you don't like it.

Yes. Your initial feeling is you don't like it.. or you feel there is something that is just not right, hence your asking our opinion. Paint them body color or matte black leave the grill black. Just doesn't look right to me.

Reverse that color scheme and you've got a winner. Paint the top to match or keep it white.

Unless of course you want it to look like a Bronco, then knock yourself out. It's your truck and nobody else's. Do what pleases you. Especially given that you are paying the bills and they don't come cheap.

And I'd say ditch the bumper, unless you want it to look like a Jeep-Ronco. Or would that be a Brjeep? And not trying to rail you, just giving you an opinion. I love old Broncos and obsessed over Eddie Bauer's back in the day

LOL! This great stuff! Thanks for the input!

I didn't expect the bumper comment. Uh-oh. I think he's already finished that. He's making room for an intercooler up there I think.

It's not that I don't like it, really, but if I keep a white top, it needs white wheels (which is what it has now) & I hate them (sorry white wheel guys). I don't want to have to wash it.

That reminds me of the cladding that Ford puts on all their trucks...the WORST.

White roof is OK...but a big NO on the wheel arches and sills.

Man up! "Act as if, and you shall become..." Be the Bad Ass you always wanted to...

Black with a white roof and Matte Black flares, unless you are trying to be in a Gap commercial.

this thread is so funny... can't wait to see what you decide on! i'm a female but still like to see the stock black on grills, around wheels, etc. It sometimes looks nice in high gloss black. Would love to see a sand 110 with a white roof but i'm curious to see what gray you chose. I am thinking of painting my 90 sand but my friends say to leave the camo paint alone since the truck is rust free. it's definitely rare, especially out here in fruity los angeles!

Oh I love that sand! I can visualize with a white roof... it would still look great. And no need for white wheels when you have a white top... black wheels are fine with a white roof. black wheels look good on ANYTHING.
