Is it OK to throw in the towel?

Well, I'm all into this transfer case schmidt with the Loob. I have the replacement one sitting on the driveway but the one in the vehicle is being a real bee-yoch. I'm at the point where I'm ready to call the transmission shop and have them do the darn thing. I'm on my back working with no room, the truck is on stands, it's cold, I can't make any progress, I have better things I could be doing...
I guess I am ready to call this one and let the someone else do it. Does that make me a bad owner?

Nothing's hanging it up except my gumption. Not a good day.

Bad owner? No way! You're maintaining it whether you do it yourself or not. Life's too short to worry about it and the sooner you get that truck on the road the better off you are.

Your only a bad owner when you seriously start considering using the destruction and denial from enemy section of your Rovers owner manual...

If I had C4, or a descent rifle my Lighweight would never have left the woods.

I did mine in winter too but I borrowed someone's garage and transmission jack. We had to slightly pry it to get it past the lip of the body work aft of the trans.

We also had to separate the exhaust center can from the y-pipe and allow the entire drivetrain to tip down at the back until the clutch fan hit the shroud.

Hope that helps. A blanket to lay on and thermal long johns help too. All that said, I am putting off some maintenance too. It just too cold to get me motivated.

Yes it is tempting to send the vehicle to someone for help. But if experience can be use as any kind of guide, I know that most likely I will be unhappy with the result.

I'm not sure why but this all sounds familiar

I wish I could offer more motivation, but the cold does the same to me. Maybe check the forecast and take some time off on a warmer day?

I ended up punting the ball. Worked on other RRC to get it ready for the street. Got the wipers working but they park in the middle of the windscreen.
