Question interior alarms and buzzers

while paging throught the book for my 95 ST. I happened upon a page describing interior alarms and warning tones, //like when the door is open...the problem is, mine doesn't make any noises at all. is this the case or is something wrong.

Mine makes noise if I take the key out and leave the lights on (door open) or if I leave the key in and open the door.

Under the heat controls. Take the corner piece off of the dash. Somewhere in there is a black rectangular box. I just unhooked mine.

There are little plungers where the door close on the firewall side. There should be a phillips head screw under the plunger. When i first got my defender I had to replace one thats how I found out. This works at least for the station wagon.

In an effort to make and keep her as stock as possible I was thinking about finding out why it doesn't make any noises anymore. All the plungers on the doors are intact and in good shape. Maybe that little black box inside the dash. I'll have to check it this weekend.

Does the center light turn on when you open the doors?

I know they're probably goning to annoy me, but I want to keep the vehicle as close to showroom condition as possible. So, I thought I would at least investigate why they aren't working.
