importing Land Rover engine, Advise needed

My Land Rover 88 needs a new engine. I do have an overhauled engine in Europe. How easy is it to import this in USA ?

For new engines you need EPA approval which is of course not available for this one.
Does customs have problems with overhauled/used engines or is this no problem ?

Transport it self is no problem, I just want to know how customs is handling this.

best regards
Johan

no he doesn't I do. Email me at julian@globallandrovers.f9.co.uk , we will probably will have some space, the engine must be crated, have no oil in it and have a commercial invoice. We are loading the container in the next 2 weeks, but probably next week.

I imported a 2.25 Petrol in 1996, and I don't recall anything other than broker and customs fee. I think they just view it as parts, so the fee is minimal.

It will not be a problem Johan. You need the serial number off the engine to present to customs just like with your new engines. ISF's need to be filed before the shipment now pursuant to some new regulations though. So get your ducks in a row before letting anything leave port headed our direction.

QUOTE Due to the new requirements by U.S.Customs for importing requiring an Importer Security Filing of all containers 24 hours prior to being loaded on the vessel or penalties will be issued. All importers must obtain a Customs bond in order to import and have the ISF filed on their behalf.

The attached form or a similar format will need to be sent to us 72-48 hours prior to the vessel sailing in order to file the ISF to avoid a penalty being issued to the Importer. Penalties can be 5000.00 to 10000.00 for each non filing of the ISF. If the ISF is not filed within 24 hours of the vessel sailing the Container will not be loaded on the vessel.

so what do you put on the EPA form where it talks about engine comp-liance with the EPA. the part where you have to sign your life away that you swear the engine has EPA certification?

The vehilce is over 25 years old. The vehicles were sold in USA with those engines installed in them new in the USA way back when.

As far as the form. YMMV What does your broker say?
