If Vacis is the system we can see being used on that Border agent tv series its amazingly powerful. Can see straight thru trucks and trains to the bad stuff

what will CBP say about the engine (non-EPA compliant)?
If it's an engine on a crate I suppose you could say it's an "industrial" or a "farm" engine, but when it's attached to or coming in with a pallet of car parts I wonder if you'll get any pushback?

any engine in a Disco would be under 21 years, right? But moreover, I would assume one would not go through the hassle of importing an engine unless it was at least a 200Tdi (which still has a few years left before it's technically legal).

...or were you thinking that he's have potential issues with a TD5 or TDCi? (which wouldn't be present in a Disco anyway)

The disco is a 1992 with 130k miles. My family is looking at a few trucks for me. 200 or 300tdi. I'm going to get my uncle who has a shop to install it.

I thought used engines were ok. It's just they can't come in a truck.

If it is not installed it does not matter what year. EPA rules. It's considered a part.

The disco automatic has more hp in the 300tdi. 121hp as compared to manual 111hp.

good to know. Just out of curiousity did you hear that from a guy in the UK, EPA/CPB or Doug? I'd be inclined to believe the latter, but if some guy in the UK is telling you, I'd research further just to be sure.

That would be the difficult to refit in a defender, disco only, "fly by wire" setup that everyone shies away from. The are cheap as chips for that reason-zero demand.
