importation?

Hey, let me ask a few good questions. How do companies import newer half cut cars with diesel motors never approved here, and selling them for parts?Half cut defender anyone. Also its been said you could import for declared "off-road use only" is that possible/easy?If so how old does it have to be?Last there is another company that says you can import newer vehicles without motors and label it as self built?Any response is appreciated.Thanks.

So technically you want to import a 1990 defender without the engine/transmission,you can label as parts?I guess thats what i really wanted to know.

never tried it but you might want to remove the axles too. others have had problems with complete bodyshells and the like as mentioned in the refernced thread and the links from within that thread. you can try any number of ways to do what you want to do but there is really only one way to do it legally. read up before you shell out any greenbacks.

George @ RDS can answer all of your questions. As a licensed/registered importer and exporter he can bring in a complete brand new Defender- he just has to ship it back out to somewhere else. He told me when he buys a customs seizure truck he can strip the whole truck but when he gets to the frame it has to be cut into small peices less than 3 ft long- you can't even keep a rear cross member whole. I know of people who imported brand new body shells and then re-installed the drive trains but am told that loop hole was closed several years ago. Call George and get the low down.
