Ignition Wiring Question

Where does the black wire ground to on a 1986 diesel ignition switch? I traced the wire and found it just exposed not connected to anything...

Thanks in advance

After doing some reading, I assume it connects somewhere to the multi earth in the wiring harness. For a temporary fix could I just run a bit of wire to the earth on the engine side of the bulkhead or would that produce and danger? I'm pretty new to wiring so I'd like to check with the forum before I change anything.

Are things working properly now?
If so, cap it off and leave the spirit of Lucas alone.

Tough question, the past few times I tried it hadn't started. So for good measure I cleaned the ground on the bulk head but it looked fine anyways. It was turning over before I did that but wouldn't catch, I then found out it was in 3rd gear when I was trying to start. Tried today when it was in first and it came close (chugged forward a little b/c the clutch wasn't fully depressed) but then the battery died (tried too many times I guess) so I'm recharging it now. I doubt changing it from 3rd to 1st did anything but this car seems to be possessed at times.

My concern is I figured the ground was there for a reason and trying again with it disconnected could be dangerous.
