Ignition will not spring back

Gentlemen/Ladies,,

I can't seem to find a thread on this: When I start my 1997 D90 SW, the ignition switch does not spring back to the on position. I have to manually turn it otherwise the starter just keeps turning. Do I need a new part or can I fix this? Please be gentle as this my first post. We recently added the 1997 D90 SW #2179 to the family.

It's neither gummed up nor dead. There's no resistance when turning it. The engine starts just fine. It just does not spring back to the on position. I have to manually turn the key back to the on position. It seems that a spring broke in there.

That worked. Switch replaced.

Replacing the switch was it. Finally got around to replacing it. What's nice is there is no chance of cranking the starter motor now when the engine is running. Thanks.
