Angry Ignition key won't turn!

I swear Janey knows she's about to get sold and is being difficult on purpose.

I went to go start her and the key won't turn. It feels like the steering is locked although I parked it straight so there is no reason it would be locked that I can think of. Anyway, I have tried everything I can to try make it budge. I have pushed and pulled, turned the wheel both ways, all the while jiggling the key and trying to turn the ignition. Have tried a shot of pb-blaster as well as some lock lubricant.

I pulled the instrument panel and the steering column trim, and short of drilling out the bolts, the lock assembly isn't coming off. If I was super patient with a jewelers screwdriver I could remove the ignition switch but that would still leave me with a locked steering wheel.

Anyone have any suggestions before I start drilling?

Anyone want a 110? Make me offer

charles

It sounds like you already tried my solution, but this happened to me once: Parked straight and flat and then in a garage for crying out loud... went to start it and the ignition key wouldn't budge... finally cranked the steering wheel HARD one direction and the key popped loose... haven't had a problem since

I thought about it but I don't think they are what's limiting the turning of the steering wheel (the steering lock is). But I'll give anything a try.

specifics on what I did... put pressure on the key to turn it and then just cranked on the steering wheel until the key suddenly popped loose...

I do need a mower. Let me think about it as I have a feeling I could do better than this offer.

Well, jacked it up and no difference. Figured while I had it that way I'd have my wife jump in and try turn the key while I tried to work the wheels.

The damn woman kept asking me if it was the right key. I assured her it was but to finally shut her up I took the key over to my D90....

and started it. OK, dumbass was using the D90 spare, not Janey's key. Went inside, grabbed the right key, ignition turns freely. Morning wasted.

Hanging my head in shame. My wife is very happy for some reason .
