ID paint color

I need to get some paint mixed for my footwells repairs, my truck interior is brown (exterior is red for fire service). Can anyone confirm this color? Rowan? Some of the charts online state Rowan was only used until 85, this truck is a 86. Other options? Thanks.

85/86 I'd check the build date, if it looks like a duck...

I've got the service documents, as far as I can tell (its in german) it is an 86. CalVIN says 85-87. Service records start in 86 also. Arizona Tan is sort of close too?

Could be. Brown is one of those colors that is hard to judge based on how many years its been in the sun for.

yeah, since I only have it on interior panels I think it should be fairly preserved. I can't tell, the only references I have say Brown. Arizona Tan is listed as a range rover color so maybe I'll just go with Rowan and if it doesn't match I'll try the next option.

Cutter - sort of on-topic...but do you have any idea what specific "color" the outside is painted? I've likewise got an ex-fire truck and need to do some touchup spots.

I tried to google it but since the truck was in the Austrian fire force my inability to search in German made it pretty short. The exterior paint on mine is pretty faded. I think I'll get the thing resprayed as close as the shop can get it once I get the body panels cleaned up and recover the funds I've eaten up repairing this thing.

I think all those 80s colors fall under that, just different levels of protein in the diet!

Hi Cutter,
Some weeks ago I had some paint made at a local paint shop. I think it was a truck in the same brown as yours. See picture below. They used a scanner and came pretty close. I had two spray cans made, one is unused, I can send it you if you want.

Take a pic of it outside in the sunlight. differing colour temps from the overhead lights and monitor can affect the perception of the colour.

Johan that would be amazing, or if you have the mix code /paint type I could reference that. Where did you go to get the spray cans, I haven't found a paint shop here that would do that but I have only tried a few. I can also just have them scan it as well. I def. think it is Roan (strange I saw it listed as Rowan many places) now based on the imagery. I'll try and get a picture of a few panels in daylight tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

Interesting. They described it as Russet according to the search I did. Here is a MGB in Russet Brown http://www.motorcar-garage.com/galle...-mgb-re-paint/

Its perfectly possible that LR used a color specific to certain markets that was not available in the UK.

Here is a list of BL browns (well many of them) with their three letter BL paint code.

AFM Antelope 1983-1987
ABA Arizona Tan 1984-1989
AMD Brazil 1973-1977
ACM Brazilia 1976-1980
AAJ Buff Glow 1975-1981
AMF Buff Glow 1975-1981
ADA Caramel !973-1984
ADS Carriage Brown 1976-1977
ANC Cirrus 1983-1984
AMS Clove 1981-1986
AEB Grosvenor Brown 1978-1984
AMP Mace 1981-1982
AAC Maple 1973-1976
AMN Peat 1981-1984
AEA Portland Beige 1979-1984
AMY Rattam Beige 1982-1984
ANT Rich Raisin 1990-1992
ACV Roan Brown 1983-1985
AAE Russet Brown 1977-1982
ADR Sable 1968-1976
ACD Sahara Dust 1971-1985

And another source of nearly unlimited paint colors on LR.... (wish I hadn't even googled this stuff as the variation in colors is nuts!)
http://www.landroverseries.org/paint-codes.htm

Hard part in all this is screen colors vary as well as the actual paint on the LR has been subjected to a few decades of exposure to the elements.

I get them at a NAPA paint store or at Painters Supply company, both here in Grand Rapids. They both have scanners, just like you I take an interieur part to have it scanned. For this Brown it even scanned it as a Land Rover color.

I will send you the spray can Monday, it has the formule on the can. Hope it works
