I Think I Broke Something

Drove over Mossquito Pass, Colorado Saturday and I think the D90 did not like it because it started to act up going home. Here is what is going on: driving down the highway at a constant speed everything is fine. No noises, no rattles, no shaking just a normal ride. Push on the accelerator suddenly and the vehicle shifts to the right just as if it was hit by a gust of wind but there is no wind! Steering wheel does not move. If I let off the accelerator suddenly the vehicle move to the left. This is the only sign that something might be wrong. Looked under the vehicle and could see no obivous signs of trouble. Thohgt it might be a broken engine mount but not that. Any idea what to check?

Embarrassed to say I haven't been over Mosquito Pass in ages.

It was an interesting trip. The group ahead of us on the pass were a bunch of CJ2's and CJ3's, the first generation 4WD and in our group were LR3's the latest generation of WD4. Both groups made it over the pass with no MAJOR problems.

Check the trailing/radius arm to frame bushings. If they are shot the truck will do that.

^^^^ agree.... trailling arm bushes (either end) or radius arm-to-chassis bush on the front.

Went out and had the same problem on I=25, the nut was loose on my left-hand rear trailing arm.

Problem found and fixed. The right side trailing arm was loose at the front mount. All is well for now.
