I hate my stock lug nuts.

They get stuck in the socket and make it a pita to get work done.

I'm thinking about tearing off the caps.

Are there any alternatives out there?

Ouch is right, but RN wants 113.64 USD for 5 RRC nuts.

I think I'll check for some used RRC ones and drive the caps off for right now.

Won't taking the caps off make your lug wrench no longer fit? I suppose you could get another to fit...

Drops it down to 1".

I have a decent size 1/2" drive and sockets in the 90 right now. I'll get by for the moment until I pick up another dedicated wrench.

I may just use a bit of JB weld to seal off the nuts for now, or just have some caps welded on.

Or just leave the caps on and use a 6 point 1 1/8th rather than hammer on the 27mm or 1 1/16th.

Yep, it's not cheap for alloy wheel.
I have the ones for steel wheel, much cheaper
and very decent quality.
I had one set (5) of antitheft lugnuts made
locally with 316 SS.

Maybe, but wouldn't there be stripping issues when used with an air ratchet.
