Hydraulic winch underpowered???

Finally got around over my vacation time to get my hydraulic winch all buttoned up but when I went to try it, it seemed super weak. I can stop the drum with pressure from my fingers. I checked all the lines and there are not any leaks, so I am wondering is there air getting in the lines preventing a complete fluid flow..??? and if so how would I check for this because if air was getting in, that would be in the suction from the tank to the pump line.

Any ideas of what to check would be appreciated!

thanks in advance

sounds like a restriction somewhere. are you tapping into the power steering pump for pressure ?

No, running a engine mounted pump where the aircon usually is. I do have an Engine mount OCV mounted. May need to adjust that. Its all redwinch gear, got the challenger and the engine mounted pump.

Assume fluid flow is in correct direction and flow/PSI of pump is fully present and correct. That leaves me with potential for a blockage in a line or some defect in the winch itself

Is the pump variable pressure or constant pressure with a pressure regulator (bypass valve or circuit). It could be a faulty bypass or an internal bypass thru faulty seals of the pump or hydraulic motor.

Some things to check - Is the pump clutch fully engaged? Is the control valve opened fully to the motor? Is the relief valve stuck open? Is the winch in gear?
