Husky compatible bumper

The nice folks over at Rockware informed me the other day that they can't make me a bumper to fit the Husky 10 winch anylonger. They offered to make me one if they could get the winch mount Superwinch used to make for it. Since that's not available anylonger, I'm running out of options. I'd really like the Rockware bumper...

Right now I have one option, and that's to get a Rover's North bumper. There are two listed that will work with the Husky. I'm not sure what the difference is between the two:

http://www.roversnorth.com/store/p-1...der-90110.aspx

OR

http://www.roversnorth.com/store/p-5...nch-black.aspx

Anyone wish to comment on these two and/or post other options for the Husky 10?

Thanks!

they can't make a tray and put the right holes in it for the Husky 10? Don't they make each of their bumpers custom?

I have a SG brush bar with the Husky 10. I really like it. Since SG is no longer making anything, you can't get it new, and finding one used would be tough.

I would find a local custom fabricator and have them make something for you. You can design something like the Rockware, but have it adapted to the Husky 10.

I always thought RW built all of that stuff. But it doesn't seem like it would be very hard for them to just build a tray for it, but whatever...

Anyways, the more expensive one is a Mantec bumper (I think they are made from 1/4"), I'm guessing the cheaper one is a knock off...

Problem with the RN bumper is it leaves the bumper corners in the vulnerable low position, I don't know if they beef them up but stock ones fold like an envelope. I bet Ike Goss could weld one up for you.

I would have RW just make their std bumper without holes. send it to you uncoated and cut the winch motor piece yourself.

The Mantec appears to be almost $300 less than the no-name one on their website.

Is Ike Goss in the Mass area?

-Thx

They don't beef that section up of the mantec version. Not only is it lower at the ends. But it is not fully boxed in and is open on the back side. DW bent the crap out of his several years ago KB.

Do you know if the non-Mantec version is "beefed up"? I'm wondering what would justify the additional price.

Backwards there. The Mantec is the more expensive one.

$807.53

Mantec $539 vs $807 on the RN site. I'll have to call them I guess to get the "real" pricing :-)

Also, if anyone has any pics of the Pangolin bumpers I'd love to see 'em. I'll shoot Ike an email too, thanks for the link Jeff!

They sell them galvanized as well. In person they are nice, but not super beefy on the ends (like Ike's or Shipman's bumpers)

Hm, your right.

I looked at Mantec's site and it looks like they might be both made by Mantec.

I've been doing the same research. There's a good looking one available from Paddock Spares. It would of course cost an arm and a leg to have it shipped from the U.K.. I'm considering finding a local fabricator to duplicate it.

I went the Rockware route for the Husky 10k. I dropshipped the Husky to them and drove over to collect ithe finished bumper/bar. VERY pleased with the result. They do really nice work. Have some pics somewhere if you are intested.

If they can use my setup dimensions, I am going back there next week which could save you shipping the Husky.

Let me know if I can help.

BTW great choice of winch...

Owen

I believe they will need to modify the bumper angles and fit a larger winch mounting plate to accomodate the deeper Husky, so their 'standard' wouldnt work. They make them all to order anyway.

Owen, thanks for the input. Do you know if they needed to use the Husky mounting plate, or did they just mount the husky directly into the bumper without the mounting plate?

No they made a plate to fit the Husky footprint, modified the bumper/bar angles to fit it all together. Husky used to supply a "Universal Mounting Plate" which RW had in stock until they ranout over a year ago. The bumper and tube angles are increased to accomodate the deeper winch plate

Heres a photo before the Hellas were added (and a place for the licence plate..) I'll take some detailed pictures and post them this weekend

Guess I have to learn how to add pictures - Sorry!

Hope you figure out how to post 'em, would like to see it :-)

If they can get the specs off your truck, that would be super.

And another - just didnt get the dpi right...

Of course you dont need to add the bar, streering guard, limb lifter tabs etc if you just want the bumper. It has a great approach angle (without the zip tied licence plate!).
