How to tell alpine glass thickness

So this is the first winter I have had to park the 110 outside and water leaks seem to be my number one enemy at the moment. I have narrowed down the leak to both alpine windows but there seems to be two different seals available one for 4mm and one for 5mm glass. Is there anyway to know what I have prior to pulling them out? It appears that both pieces of glass are original to the 84 roof although the parts book doesn't indicate a vin or year change for the glass. Since it is outside I don't want to remove the glass until I have new seals in hand.

I believe after 1987 they started making 4mm glass for the alpines.

Invariably, the thicker stuff was the older version. Body panels etc got thinner as time marched on.
