How much R-134a?

It's air conditioning time for the D90 (with a 1995/Wynn's system). But... how much refrigerant should go in? My collection of air conditioning tools has expanded since the last time, so I plan on doing the recharge by weight instead of by quantity of 12 oz. cans.

I couldn't find the spec in the shop manual (or else *completely* missed it) and nothing turned up in this forum. The only thing I could find from Google was this reference, which states "Defender 06.94-98 R134a 1.090kg":

http://goo.gl/NVBIiB

1.09kg is a touch over 3x 12oz. cans, which seems familiar, but that's 2.4 pounds, which seems like a lot (though I'm no pro and most of my A/C work has been with R-12 systems, so what do I know?).

If anyone knows for sure, I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks!
Travis

2.5 pounds sounds about right when I had a mechanic swap my compressor. So I think your 2.4 sounds good

Thanks! I'll go with 1.09kg, then. And I'll report back when I get it charged-up.

1.09kg is working perfectly, so far, at least.
