How much oil in lower intercooler hose

I took the lower intercooler hose off at the turbo and have some oil in there. I've included photos of the turbo and the elbow. My question is how much oil is acceptable?

Clean the intercooler out, i poured like 1/2 to 1 quart of oil the last time I cleaned the Jetta's IC.

Oil is normal. The crankcase ventilation runs through there.

I took the air hose off the other end and didn't feel any play on the turbo propeller (if that's what it's called) but there was some oil there at the connection. Not pooling, just damp. There isn't any at the air filter or further up the hose.

I started down this road because I have increased EGT temps (by about 200 degrees) and loss of power on hills and more black smoke than usual.

I'm thinking new air filter and fuel filter to see if that helps.

Have you checked for boost leak?

Do you have a boost gauge? Black smoke, less power and higher EGTs sound like an air supply problem.

The only time I ever check mine is when I clean it, when I've got the engine torn down for a timing belt replacement. There is usually only about a tablespoon or 2 in the intercooler. To clean it, I use about a pint of gasoline, a shake it quite a bit. Then I set in the hot sun to dry with the ports facing down & down hill to allow the heavy gas vapors to drain out.

An addition oil reducing item you may want to put in series with the stock cyclone unit in a Mann ProVent 200. It will further reduce the amount of oil going into the air intake tube.

I do not. It's on the list I just haven't ordered it. I was thinking air supply too.

Other than replacing the air filter what should I check for air supply? The other item I noticed is that I don't have a hose for the bottom of the filter housing. She wasn't originally a 300tdi and the side vent wasn't done with the motor conversion.

Look for any possible leaks. Like a split in a hose or a loose connection. Upstream of the turbo, look for collapsing of hoses on the inside. If it is a pressure side leak, you can usually hear the noise when on boost.
