Does the benefit of withholding this information outweigh the potential risk of exposing it? Consider the case of one of us stuck in the freezing cold, just before sunset, in the middle of nowhere with a broken ignition switch. I'd like to know how to hotwire my truck.

If someone wants to steal your truck, they'll steal your truck. Install a battery cut-off or a distributor cap if you're that worried.

Hot wiring any old car (or old design) is the same. So leaving out specifics of anything "Defender" if you loose the ignition switch for some reason, and you still have your key, you have to duplicate what that switch does, and that is giving power to the ignition, and for a moment... the starter relay. If you look at the back of the ignition switch you can figure it out in a heartbeat. If you want the specifics of what wire goes where or what color is what, then the best thing to do is not post that info here and have a look in your service manual and you'll see what needs to go to what easily.
Power in (12v) needs to go to power the ignition and then you need power to bump the starter for a moment. Same in a 1957 Chevy as a Defender, so no "theft" info. posted.

Make you fuel shutoff mechanical and that wouldn't be much of a worry.

The idea of D90 theft reminds me of an old banjo joke.

So this banjo player is driving to a bluegrass show. He stops at the 7-Eleven for cigarettes and he's a little worried because his $3000 banjo is sitting on the front seat. "I'll only be a minute. It will be ok," he says to himself. He goes inside and buys his smokes and as he walks out the door of the 7-Eleven, his heart almost stops. His passenger window is smashed. He walks over to his car and stares through the broken glass into the car. There, on the passenger seat, is another banjo.

I'll be here all night.
