Question Hood sticks and top for 90?

Is anyone in the US selling hood stick kits for Defender 90 (mil style)?

Safety Devices has a cage that substitutes for the hood sticks I believe - allowing you to run a euro-spec hood, have some benefits of a cage, and not have to go the NAS route. ppcages.com has another option altogether which mimics the "SVX" anniversary edition cage. More expensive than sticks, but different options...

Red face

Here's what she looks like thus far, though I recently removed therear step bumper (had to grind out a lot of rust and repaint rear cross member). The external roll bar and lights up in the sky are coming off next. Also pulled all the plastic off the front and fitted a military grille.

ps - why can't BBs just use the standard image posting codes the ROW does?

For the moment, yes. I will probably just leave the internal stuff and put a canvas top and hoops over it.

Clever - its the obvious answer but I've never seen anyone do that. All you need is some back stays.

That sounds like a very cool idea. I saw a NAS truck that Dale Knepp turned into a ROW soft top on eBay a few months ago and thought it looked very cool. I'd love to do that to my SW. Couldn't sell it, so I might as well make it into something different.

I've thought about this as I have the canvas top and sticks that came with the truck as well. I was thinking of a plate that the stick/s would weld to. The plate would then bolt through the capping into the roll cage supports. Not sure about the cappings on the SW but I'm sure you could make a plate to go under it with captured nuts that would give you something to bolt to. You should come to our SCLR Nightmare Gulch run and we can discuss over a coldie.

I just meant some diagonal bracing towards the rear since the metal from the top isn't there to discourage fore-aft movement of the cage if the worst was to happen and you rolled over.

I still like the last design in the SD catalog - its kind of a NAS cage without the padding.

Oh of course, how could I have not thought of that.

I think that one relies on a rear bulkhead. Have the same catalog on my desk...but I also need to make sure whatever I get if I set up another roll bar thing fits within the hood.

I pulled off the whole exterior cage. Anyone know of a cover made for the square cutouts left in my wings??

Wicks,

Here are a few photos of my exmod with military roll bar and hood sticks before I converted it to a NAS cage. Hope it helps.
