hood release-what side is it on

i just bought a 95 ST and the cable hood release is on the right side just hanging there. the previous owner said something that the original broke and they had to put it there.

so on a 95 is it on the left side or right side of the tunnel?

Jack I don't have a 95, but can't imagine it's any different than a '94. It should be on the left side of the tunnel, just left of the fuse box. My guess is they ordered the wrong one which is too short. I hate the damn things. We'd all be better off converting to the older style lever under the grill (unless you have A/C).

It should be on the left side of the tunnel. Right where Charles mentioned. If you need to disconnect the cable from the catch, be careful, it's tension is held in place with a small bolt with a 7 mm head, and they break off VERY easily.

That's exactly where it is on my 95.

Very interesting. Do neither of you have AC? Mine had AC but I know there were different kinds.

Anyway, not sure if this helps Jack at all so sorry for the hijack.

Is it a Station Wagon VS a Convertible thing on the NAS trucks? All of the ROW trucks that I have seen it is on the right side, but that is ROW trucks.

Don't thinks so as the 3 of us are all ST. I'm guessing its the difference in the brand of AC, or a monday/friday build versus tues/wed/thurs. Where's Nigel when you need him.

in factory stock form:
NAS 110: RH side in footwell
1994 NAS 90 : RH side in footwell, unless AC is fitted then LH side by fuse box (AC was US dealer installed though, so could be anywhere the tech doing the install wanted to put it)
1995-1997 NAS 90: LH side by fuse box

thanks for all the replys. i installed a new hood cable on the left side. i hated the cable on the right side-it made me feel like i was in a freelander.

i think its true that they installed it on the right side becasue because they bought a wrong one.
